Description
Born in May 1948 in Port-au-Prince, Frantz Voltaire lived for a long time between several countries before settling permanently in Montreal. Guardian of Haitian culture and its memory, Frantz Voltaire seems to have experienced all the important political struggles since his departure from Haiti to flee the Duvalier dictatorship to his many militant activities in Montreal or elsewhere in the world, passing through Chile where he experienced prison and torture following the coup d'état against Allende.
These interviews with Sarah Martinez will make known and above all recognize not only the biography and work of a transmitter of culture and history, an essential intercessor between people and worlds, but will also offer a historical panorama of the culture and intellectual life of the Haitian diaspora in Quebec.
