As a young man, Patrice Bernier was torn: which sport to choose? Hockey or soccer? To please his father, who had never seen snow before adulthood, the young boy preferred the former.

But the passion for football keeps resurfacing, and it is this passion that ultimately wins the game. Master of his destiny, Patrice Bernier has had a fascinating career: he joined the ranks of the Impact in 2000 and, after three seasons, moved his cleats to Norway, Germany and Denmark where he treads the same field as stars like Thierry Henry, Robbie Keane, Pavel Nedved and David Villa.

Returning to the Impact fold in 2014, he was named captain. In his last game, after an 18-year career, he will have played more than 150 regular season games. Having become an assistant coach of the Impact in 2019, he is starting a new chapter in his life.

Patrice Bernier's integrity, talent, intensity and outspokenness have made him one of Quebec's most beloved sports figures.
