Description
Born in Montreal, Oscar Peterson became a renowned jazz pianist. But in the 1930s, he was just a young boy who loved playing the trumpet and making music with his siblings.
Unfortunately, before he was even ten years old, Oscar was struck down with tuberculosis. He recovered, but his weakened lungs no longer allowed him to blow his trumpet. He was then forced to give up the instrument that He loves it and chooses the piano to satisfy his passion for music.
The story takes place in St-Henri during the 1930s. This neighbourhood, now known as Little Burgundy, was predominantly composed of the Black working class. Marie Lafrance's detailed illustrations highlight the culture of the Montreal community.
