In this book, the birth of local hip-hop is told by its first cohort. By its leading actresses and actors who, as early as 1978, were organizing hip-hop parties with DJs tuned into the New York sound, in neighborhoods like Little Burgundy and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce in Montreal; who hosted hip-hop radio shows in the early 80s and who highlighted the talent of the first local rappers.
