Description
Emmelie Prophète is part of the generations of contemporary Haitian women authors such as Yanick Lahens, Kettly Mars, Evelyne Trouillot, Edwidge Danticat. Le bout du monde est une fenêtre questions the distance between oneself and the horizon, day and night, beings and desires. Through the window of a leaning house, Rose and Samuel engage their solitudes in a wordless dialogue, full of madness and secrets. In echo, the voices of the characters, all marginalized, take turns, in this shadow theater where the desire to live and inhabit the country shines through. Press excerpt: "The darkness of Haitian reality is matched only by the author's concern to paint it calmly, sometimes cruelly, by putting his reader to the test of destinies where the word happiness does not seem to have been planned. Except in these miracles of tenderness that sometimes upset a day, sometimes an entire life. » Valérie Marin La Meslée, Le Point The author Born in Port-au-Prince, Emmelie Prophète is a poet and novelist.
