Until shortly before Pari, a little girl from Afghanistan, was born, girls in her country were not allowed to learn to read and write. Now it is Pari's first day as her mother's assistant on the bookmobile. Pari wonders why the girls she meets will not be able to go to school next year like she can. Her mother explains that there is no school in the village where they are or in the refugee camp. That is why her mother helps them and why Pari must help too.
