Description
Six years after the publication of Nations Nègres et Culture , Professor Cheikh Anta Diop published, one after the other, in 1960, three essential books: The Cultural Unity of Black Africa, Precolonial Black Africa and The Political, Economic, Cultural, Industrial, Technological and Scientific Foundations of a Future Federal State of Black Africa.
African history was born, at the end of a grueling scientific research but rich in human perspectives, conducted with disinterest in solitude, for ten years, in the midst of trials of all kinds, research which was crowned by a State doctorate in letters at the Sorbonne. Its originality was quickly recognized. Since this shattering moment of epistemological rupture with the ethnographic boxes and the blinkers of Africanist history, superficial and anecdotal, the general framework of ideas and knowledge defined and drawn up by Professor Cheikh Anta Diop soon became, for young African researchers, an assurance and an incentive to work. All things considered, Cheikh Anta Diop appears, from the start, as the true inventor, of our days, of African history.
