Description

A History of Hip-Hop "And once they heard that, it was over, there was no going back. They wanted to hear break after break all the time." DJ Kool Herc Late 60s, South Bronx, New York, a neighborhood and families left to fend for themselves. Marcus and Aaron, two brothers, grow up in a climate of social violence. In the midst of a gang war, each one goes to the streets, in their own way, to find ways to survive. Marcus is on all the block parties and throws himself body and soul into dancing. Aaron, for his part, finds refuge in graffiti. Between fiction and documented historical narrative, we (re)discover, through the eyes of Marcus and Aaron, how the creative energy of young people from the Bronx gave birth to DJing, rap, breakdancing and graffiti. A few years later, these artistic disciplines would constitute a major and international cultural movement: Hip Hop. In 1979, the song Rapper's Delight was released. An insult to the founders of the movement, a commercial explosion for hip hop. BREAK is the result of a real four-handed work, those of Florian LEDOUX and Cédric LIANO, both for the writing of the script and for the production of the boards.
