Description

"Bambola Bamboche is an atypical work. This novel is constructed according to the linear chronology of a night, between midnight and seven in the morning. It takes place in a bar, on an imaginary island in the Caribbean. It tells the story of an investigation into the disappearance of a writer, by a journalist in love with a woman vaguely involved in a revolutionary project. We quickly realize that this unity of time, place, action could well be a decoy. Indeed, the night takes place in the chaos of a living memory, a time that makes folds, a dream woven from odds and ends, it could well be that the bar is something other than a bar, but what? Could the missing writer and the journalist looking for him really be two distinct characters? As for the woman, Gina, she is numerous, dare I say. I leave it to the readers to open this box of surprises nesting other boxes, until the final twist. It is a novel that is both complex - mind you, I don't say complicated - and simple while remaining polysemic, that is to say, full of diverse meanings. It progresses in what I consider to be a dark light of myself and others." Jean Claude Charles.
