Joujou Turenne tells the story of the island where she was born, Haiti. She puts into writing what has always been reported to her by voice, in tears, in cries, in songs.

It is the story of a collective struggle that will lead to the creation of the first black republic. A love story… a revolution.

The storyteller starts from her night speech, imaginary and clandestine, to navigate towards a day speech, populated by authentic heroes and heroines. A complex journey, because the day speech has often been carried by conquerors, "foreigners" and, moreover, men.
