During the upheavals of the déchoukaj, the fall of the Haitian dictatorship, Mireille, a teacher passionate about literature, is fascinated by an old woman she meets by chance in the streets of Port-au-Prince. Under the influence of this encounter, the young woman wants to write the story of the one called the Loca, but the contradictory stories about her life disturb Mireille, who no longer knows where to find the truth. A game of fate, she then becomes friends with Pierre, a poet whose Cuban grandmother also hides her secrets. Between Haiti, Cuba and the Dominican Republic, a quest for origins is then drawn, blurred by the mass movements that slavery and political conflicts have provoked.
